SASSA Status Approved

I still remember the days of COVID-19 when we were all facing the hard lockdown in 2020. That was the time when I lost my job and became unemployed. However, I found out about the SRD R350 (now R370) grant and applied for it. I got the “Status Declined” and then applied again and got “Status Failed due to Identity Verification Failed” and again applied.

And guess what? I finally got the status as “Status Approved and Payment Date is ***”.

Also, you will see the “Pending Status” right after you apply for this grant. Today, I will share what to do after getting the approval of the R370 payment and what not to. Stay with me and read all the important details that you should know.

Congratulations on SASSA Status Approval

SASSA Status Approved

First of all, I am happy for all the clients who have received their SRD R370 grant approval. Now they can get R370 payment from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA). If you are one of those who have received the SASSA SRD grant approval this month, then be ready to collect your payment as well.

Find Your SRD R370 Grant Payment Date

You need to check out what the payment date is for your SRD R370 grant. Here is how to check it:

  1. Go to the SRD portal that is developed for the SRD grant applicants: Srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Now go to the section “South African ID Holders,” or “Asylum Seekers/Special Permit Holders”.
  3. Click on the “check grant application status”.
  4. Now enter your 13-digit South African ID and 10-digit phone number.
  5. You will be able to check your SRD status along with the payment date.
  6. Note this date and collect the payment on that day.

How to Get R370 Payment After the Payment Date?

You can get your payment through two major methods:

  • Bank transfer
  • Cash payment

Bank Transfer: In this method, you need to visit your bank’s ATM and then insert your SASSA card. Now withdraw your grant cash from the ATM.

Cash Payment: If you opted for cash, you can collect it from your nearest South African Post Office, Pick n Pay or Shoprite. Bring your valid ID and SASSA card. Always check your SASSA status online to confirm the payment before going to the bank or post office.

Don’t Forget to Apply for Reapplication

You should know about the SASSA reapplication. Once you get the approval of the SRD grant, you will get R370 payment for a consecutive 3 months only. After that, your application will be marked as “reapplication pending” status.

So you need to apply for reapplication once every 3 months. But why is this required? Well, SASSA wants to make sure only the eligible people are getting the grant payment. So that is why every beneficiary has to prove that they are still eligible for the grant and their circumstance have not changed or have become better.

Keep Your Bank and Contact Details Updated

It is very important to keep your bank and contact details updated with SASSA. If your bank account changes or your phone number is no longer active, you will not receive the R370 payment.

Visit the SRD portal or contact SASSA to update your details. Always double-check that your ID number and personal information match the records.

This ensures that your grant is processed smoothly without delays. If SASSA cannot verify your details, your payment may be put on hold. Staying updated helps avoid unnecessary trips to the bank or post office.

What to Do If Payment Is Not Received

Sometimes, even after approval, the R370 payment may not reach you on the scheduled date. First, check your SRD status online to confirm that the payment has been processed. If you chose bank transfer, check your bank account and ATM history.

For cash payments, visit your nearest post office, Pick n Pay, or Shoprite with your ID and SASSA card. If the payment is still missing, contact SASSA immediately. Keep your reference number and all application details ready.

Acting quickly helps solve issues faster and ensures you receive your R370 grant without losing any months.
