SASSA CEO Orders Senior Managers to Aid August 2025 Grant Reviews

The main goal of this review is to make sure the R370 grant reaches only those who qualify. SASSA CEO, Themba Matlou, has called on all executives and senior managers to actively support the grant payments in August 2025.

This announcement aims to keep the review process organized and fast. Matlou also instructed all nine regional senior officers to visit local SASSA offices and offer direct help to vulnerable applicants.

Matlou emphasized that every SASSA beneficiary should get proper support. No one should leave a SASSA office confused or without guidance.

If your grant is being reviewed, follow these steps carefully:

  • South African ID: Take your barcoded ID or smart ID to the regional office.
  • Bank Statement: Bring statements for the last three months.
  • Income Proof: Show documents that prove your earnings or financial situation.
  • Residence Proof: Provide proof of where you live.
  • Other Relevant Documents:
    • Marriage or divorce certificate
    • Birth certificate
    • School attendance certificate
    • Death certificate

SASSA assures everyone that these steps protect the social grant system. The agency wants to ensure every R370 reaches those who need it most. Matlou noted that reviews happen every year, but this year, extra hands-on support is needed because of the high number of beneficiaries.

Senior managers will not just oversee the review, they will also work directly with staff. They will help with documents, answer questions, and guide beneficiaries through the process. This helps reduce long lines, prevent confusion, and ensure no one is turned away due to missing information.

Beneficiaries should double-check their documents before going to the office. I remember last year when I visited, missing even one document caused a delay of hours. SASSA also recommends arriving early to avoid long waits.

The CEO ended by saying that fairness and transparency are central to the August 2025 review. “We are here for our people,” Matlou said. “We will make sure no one is left behind.”
